The International Women’s Media Foundation’s (IWMF) has just opened a new round of funding for its Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists. The core goal of the Fund is to support reporting on issues of global importance that are typically under-reported. Applicants can apply for a grant to work in any format – including, but not limited to: print, digital, video, photography and new media. Applicants can also apply to the Fund for a grant to support professional development opportunities, such as security training, conferences and workshops.
Ensuring a diversity of voices, stories and perspectives in the news media has never been more important, and the IWMF’s grant, fellowships, awards and other initiatives are providing female journalists with life changing professional opportunities. IWMF grantees have produced an array of boundary-breaking and globally important stories that are reshaping how we think about the world.
Applications for this funding round will be accepted until March 7, 2017. We encourage applicants to dream big. Successful applicants will be notified six weeks after the application deadline. Applicants can specify the type of funding they seek in the online application, and may only submit one application per round of funding. We’ve added additional information to our FAQ page about the option for a small grant focused on migration issues in this round of funding. Please visit our list of former grantees to see the types of projects supported by the IWMF’s Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists.
