Somali journalist Hanad Ali Guled yet to fully recover about three weeks after the attack on him in Mogadishu.
Reports say the Goobjoog Television editor was stabbed and robbed by unidentified men on 23rd June in Wadajir district of Mogadishu.
“The journalist was accosted by men who stabbed him and took away two mobile phones from him before taking off in Mogadishu’s Wadajir district. He was admitted to Kalkal hospital where doctors said he did not suffer major injuries and will be released to complete his treatment at home” report says.
Speaking to Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF), Hanad confirmed that authorities are yet to identify the culprits behind the attack, however he said “I still feel pains”.
AMDF is calling on Somali authorities to fish out and punish culprits behind this attack, we demand that the authority ensures safety of journalists’ lives and property.
Somali is number 161 of 180 in the 2021 annual press freedom ranking by RSF.
