Heartfelt Commiseration over the Abduction of NUJ Kaduna Members
I am writing to express Africa Media Development Foundation’s deepest sympathies and heartfelt commiserations to the entire Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna Council over the recent abduction of your esteemed members.
This tragic incident is a stark reminder of the challenges and risks that journalists face in the course of their duty to inform and educate the public. The abduction of any journalist is not only a personal tragedy for their families and colleagues but also an affront to the freedom of the press and the principles of democracy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the abducted members, their families, and all members of the NUJ Kaduna Council during this extremely difficult time. We stand in solidarity with you and call for the immediate and unconditional release of the abducted members.
We also appeal to the authorities to intensify their efforts to secure the safe return of our colleagues and to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice. The safety of journalists is paramount, and it is imperative that measures are put in place to protect them as they carry out their crucial work.
Please know that you have our full support, and we remain hopeful for an end to this menace. May the abducted members return safely and may we all continue to advocate for a safer and more secure environment for all journalists and the Citizens at large.
Yours sincerely,
Sekyen Manasseh Dadik
Executive Director,
