AMDF Expresses Solidarity with NUJ Kaduna Over Abduction of Journalists

The Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) has expressed deep concern and sympathy following the recent abduction of members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council.
In an official statement signed by the Executive Director, Sekyen Manasseh Dadik, AMDF conveyed heartfelt commiserations to the NUJ and described the incident as a troubling reminder of the dangers journalists face while carrying out their duties to inform and educate the public.
“The abduction of any journalist is not just a personal tragedy but also an attack on press freedom and democratic values,” the statement read.
AMDF extended thoughts and prayers to the abducted journalists, their families, and the wider NUJ community, and called for their immediate and unconditional release. The organization also urged security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts to secure the safe return of the victims and bring those responsible to justice.
“The safety of journalists is paramount. It is imperative that stronger protective measures are put in place to ensure they can perform their work without fear,” the statement added.
AMDF reiterated its full support for the NUJ Kaduna Council and emphasized the need for continued advocacy for a safer environment for journalists and citizens alike.
