Print, online and broadcast journalists can apply for an award.

The Cancer World Journalism Award seeks outstanding pieces of journalism that are changing the way people think about cancer.

The contest has four categories: patient and carer experience; research, science and treatment; policy, services and affordability; and prevention.

Works must have been published or broadcast between Jan. 1, 2015 and Sept. 30, 2016. Non-English entries must include an English translation.

Winners will receive EUR1,500 (US$1,645) in each category. The overall winner will attend the European Cancer Congress in January 2017 in the Netherlands.

The deadline is Oct. 31.
