Media Training & Mentoring: AMDF runs capacity building programmes aimed at developing/strengthening capacities and skills of journalists, thereby building a strong media workforce on the continent.
Editor’s Workroom: In news production, be it broadcast, print or online, the role of the Editor in ensuring smooth consumption of information cannot be overemphasized. The Editor being the final gate keeper of any piece before it gets to the public domain plays a critical role; however, little attention is given to support editors in carrying out their responsibilities. This is more difficult with the emergence of the new media which provides an individual whether professional or not the opportunity to be the reporter, editor and even Publisher. This has led to a number of flaws in the output of news contents on several news mediums especially the online platforms. It is against this that AMDF introduce the Workroom for editors to gain first hand training on how to strengthen their editorial skills.
Media Clinic: As the Media in Africa is fast evolving, not only from traditional to New Media, but also the integration of social media, the sector is now faced with a number of challenges to contend with, mainly ethical in nature. It was in response to these that Africa Media Development Foundation introduced the ‘Media Clinic’, an event that brings together Media Professionals: journalists and media executives, development partners, Civil Society Organizations, private and public sector to examine professional and ethical issues that affect the media and proffer solutions.
Independent Media: With the pathetic condition of independent media in Africa, AMDF will continue to provide professional training and mentoring opportunities for journalists to strengthen their reporting skills, especially in development and investigative journalism. AMDF will also partner other institutions to provide training and working tools like laptops, cameras and recorders to media organisations to strengthen their works.

Development Communication Initiative: AMDF understands the importance of media in pushing every development agenda; however, a wide gap exists in how knowledgeable journalists are in advocating for social change, accountability and transparency. Hence, AMDF advocates for an engagement of the media by development partners, civil society organizations and professional organizations. This is aimed at exposing and building capacity of the journalists to be issue driven and work towards contributing to sustainable development goals.
