Iliya is a seasoned journalist and press freedom advocate, who worked with both local and international media organisations. He has over 20 years of experience working in the media and communication field. He has produced and presented programme on Voice of America Hausa Service, aimed at promoting literacy and basic education in northern Nigeria. He has worked with Radio Nigeria Kaduna National Station and freelances for New York Times.
Iliya has experience working in the development sector and has been involved in health advocacy at both the national and sub-national level. He has been involved in production of advocacy and campaign materials, and has served as consultant to projects of DFID, USAID and Gates Foundation, among others.
As Chairman, he leads the Board of AMDF and ensures attainment of the organisation’s vision, mission and goals.
