Investigate and Punish Culprits Behind the Death of Nigerian Journalist-AMDF

Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) is saddened by the death of 20 year old Nigerian journalist who was found dead four days after being declared missing.

Reports say Onifade Pelumi, is a 200L student of  Mass Communication at Tai Solarin University of Education, Ogun State, South West Nigeria, who also interns with Gboah TV was arrested on October 24 by men of the Lagos state task force when hoodlum attacked a government facility to loot the COVID 19 palliatives.

Pelumi’s Press ID was taken and he was reportedly wounded as men of the task force engaged the hoodlums, throwing bottles and shooting.

The journalist had been declared missing for days after the incident until his body was finally found, deposited at Ikorodu (Lagos state) mortuary.

AMDF is calling on the Lagos state government, the Inspector General of Police, and the Lagos State Task Force to ensure that the death of Onifade Pelumi is diligently investigated and justice is served.

Pelumi died as a journalist at the front line, and his death must not go unpunished. Culprit(s) must be made to face the full weight of the law.

So far, no arrests have been made.
