Competition Seeks Sustainable Development Reporting [Worldwide]

Journalists committed to defending democracy and human rights can enter a competition.

The Lorenzo Natali Journalism Prize, sponsored by the European Commission, recognizes excellence in written, radio and broadcast journalism on the theme of development, democracy and human rights around the world.

This year’s overall theme is sustainable development, particularly fighting poverty and inequalities, human rights, democracy, youth, gender equality, environment and climate change, health, and technology and digital.

The contest has three categories: a Grand Prize, for journalists whose media headquarter is located in a partner countriy of the EU; Europe Prize, for journalists whose media is in one of the countries of the European Union; and Best Emerging Journalist Prize, for journalists under 30 in any partner country as well as in the EU Member States.

Works must have been published or broadcast between March 10, 2019 and March 9, 2020. For the United Kingdom, reporting must have been published between March 10, 2019 and Jan. 31, 2020.

Entries are accepted in all languages but should include a translation in English, French or Spanish if they are not written in one of these languages.

The winners in each category will receive EUR10, 000 (US$10,803).

The deadline is March 15, 2020
