International Women’s Media Foundation organizes trip to Tanzania [Worldwide]

Women journalists with at least three years of experience and excellent English skills can apply for a reporting trip.

The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is accepting applications for a trip to Tanzania as part of the African Great Lakes Reporting Initiative. The trip will take place Aug. 6 to 19.

A group of six journalists will be selected to report from Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous island off the east coast of mainland Tanzania, covering stories related to the trip theme of civic engagement.

Fellows will begin their trip in Nairobi, Kenya, where they will complete an orientation and Hostile Environments and First Aid Training (HEFAT). Then, they will depart for eight days in-country reporting, where they will have the opportunity to network with other journalists, report independently and collaboratively, and gain access to sources and sites related to their reporting.

The IWMF pays for fellowship-related expenses including travel, lodging, meals and fixers/interpreters unless the fellow’s news organization wishes to assume these costs.

The deadline to apply is May 19.
