Patience Aliyu Bobbo Jen is AMDF journalist of the Month

Patience Aliyu Bobbo Jen, hails from Karim lamido L.G.A in Taraba state,

She is a graduate of mass communication from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and also holds a post-graduation diploma in development communication from the same institution.

Her interest for the pen profession started from childhood. She said “broadcasting/journalism started as a childhood fantasy, with mimicking of TV broadcasters and On-Air-Personalities on radio. It further gained ground when I interned with rhythm 93.7fm Abuja and constantly got the opportunity to co-anchor programs”.

Less than a year ago she joined the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and serves on the Multi-media beat which entails passing out information in text, audio and video formats.

Patience has always had a passion for public speaking, and a need to be heard. Her initial challenge was stage-fright or a phobia for the unknown audience behind the camera.

She has no regret being a journalist saying “Though there’s always the thought of encountering a hostile or unreceptive respondents in terms of interviews but with training and confidence it is gradually falling in place”.

According to her: “I see journalism being a gateway to great places for me. In reference to the words of a great communication scholar Marshall Mc’luhan ‘the world will become a global village’ I believe an informed journalist will always spearhead trends in such a global society.

“I believe that the recent outcry from different quarters for a FREE PRESS should be seen as a call to responsibility and not a license to create chaos in our already volatile society”, she added.
